Lumen United Reformed Church hosts Still Reforming

Sunday, 27 August 2017

With a history dating back to a Gaelic chapel in Hatton Garden in 1812, the National Scotch Church in Bloomsbury in 1827, expulsion from the Church of Scotland in 1832, walking out of the Church of Scotland during the "disruption" in 1843, and bomb damage in 1945, we have some experience with reform, protest, and the struggle of staying true to the Gospel.  In 1972 we became part of the United Reformed Church, itself a merger of most Congregational and Presbyterian churches in England. In 2006 a decision was made to remodel the building, and in order to pay for this the former car park and the late Victorian halls were sold off, and in 2008 the remodelled building was opened and the church was renamed “Lumen.”

We look forward to seeing you at Lumen on 27 August.

Please contact us for a PDF or printed hard copy of the brochure "Still Reforming" which has all the events, contact details, and some essays about the anniversary and this ecumenical initiative.
